Cheap And Easy Wooden Crates

Here is a quickand easy to build wooden crate. It only costs about $2.50 to $3.00 each in material, requires minimal cuts and can be built in less than an hour.
These crates are built with wooden fence boards. You can often catch them on sale for around $1.50. But even at the regular cost of $1.98 each for the boards the crates are still very economical.

The finished product. Pup-Pup aproves but she is ready for play time now.
Note that I used some scrap pieces to make handles. The overlapping facilitates much better stacking stability.

You need the following cuts:

5 3/4 treated fence boards
4 cuts 17 inches long
2 cuts 10 inches long
2 cuts 1 inch long for handles.

I used inch and a half brads but you could use staples or even wood screws.
Yep, it's as quick and easy as that. You can make 2 of these crates from 3 fence boards.

Here is my quick sketch that I used to build these crates.
I like to keep things simple.
